Once the transactions are recorded on ERPNext, Reports and Dashboards can not only show the Current state of Inventory but also help you be proactive by providing valuable insights based on Orders and Requests from various stakeholders.

Stock related reports on ERPNext can be categorized into two major categories Reports showing Actual Inventory and its movement Report showing Projected Inventory

Let us understand the terms Actual Inventory and Projected Inventory.

Actual Inventory or Qty means the inventory that is physically available in the Warehouses of a Company.

Projected Quantity or inventory refers to the Quantity that is Projected to be available considering the Expected Incoming and Expected Outgoing Inventory.

ERPNext maintains a Ledger called “Stock Ledger” for Stock Movements to provide you detailed Reports with regards to Actual Inventory and its movement. Consider Stock Ledger to be a Bank Statement for your Stock Movements.

Reports like Stock Balance, Stock Ledger, Delivery Note Trends, Purchase Receipt Trends are some examples of Reports that provide more insights on Actual Inventory along with its movement.

Reports like Stock Projected Quantity and Item Shortage Report provide insights on the Projected Quantity based on Expected Incoming and Outgoing of Inventory.

In addition to the Reports, ERPNext also provides a Dashboard that can provide important data points to be viewed at a glance.
